FATAL ELECTRIC SHOCK.
DEATH OF A LINESMAN.
CONTACT WITH POWER WIRES. | . - ACCIDENT NEAR OAMARU. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] OAMARU, Friday A linesman, Mr. Stanley Wilson, aged 26, was electrocuted while working with a Waitaki Electric-Power Board gang at Otiako this afternoon. Deceased was sitting on ono of the crossbars of a power pole, and was engaged in widening tho wires in front of the residenco of Mr. Harris. A rnato named Philip Shalders, who was standing below, hoard a groan, and, looking up, saw Wilson lying across tho wires, which carry 400 volls. The wires were immediately cut, and Wilson released. A doctor was summoned, and efforts ,were made to revive the man, but he died from tho shock early in the evening. Deceased, who was married and had ono child, was an experienced linesman. He had been for about two years in tho service of the Waitaki Power Board, prior to which ho was engaged as a linesman by the Ashburton Board. Ho had on two previous occasions received rather severe shocks. Ho was a native of Dunedin, where his parents reside. This is the first fatality of tho kind that has occurred sinco the inception of the Waitaki Power Board.
