FALL FROM RATA VINE.
FRACTURED HIP RESULTS. A party Visited the bush at the foothills of the Tararuas, near the Manawatu Gorge, last Sunday and during the outing the rata vinos hanging from the trees woro usod for tho purpose of swinging out over a gully. Considerable fun was obtained from this pastimo until one of tho vines gave way, and tho man who was swinging on it at tho timo fell a distance of about 15ft. After considerable difficulty a doctor was summoned and the injured man was found to have broken his hip. Hp was conveyed by means of an improvisod stretcher to the main road, whero an ambulanco took him into Palmerston North.
