BOROUGH OF OTAHUHU.
CHLORINATION OF WATER. The Otahulm Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. 11. B. Todd, presiding. It was decided to oppose any alteration in the system of heavy traffic licenco fees, the council being of opinion the system was fairer than a tax on petrol consumption. In connection with the water supply, the Department of Health reported that on only one occasion during tho year had tho water been insufficiently chlorinated. However, it would bo advisable to put in a liquid chlorinating plant. Consideration of a petition for additional street lighting at the corner of Panmure and Great South Roads was deferred.
Permits for buildings to tho value of £3157 were issued during tho past fortnight.
