MAUNGATUROTO PROGRESS.
NEW PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. There, was a largo atlendanco at the opening and dedication of tho new Presbyterian church at Maungaturoto. Tho service was conducted by tho Rev. T. II Burton, moderator of tho North Auckland Presbytery, and he was assisted by the missionary in chargo of Maungaturoto, Mr. Melvillo Newton. A letter from tho Rov. W. Macdonald, of Epsom, who was the first moderator .of tho station, was l'cait. Tho church building, which was purchased somo time ago from tho Congregational Union, has recently been removed from the old cemetery site and rebuilt in its present position near tho railway station. Tho new site was generously given by Mr. Murdock Mackenzie. A throeroomed manse has been built at tho back of tin) church for the use of the missionary. During tho sorvice a bound pulpit Bible was presented by Mrs. R. S. Firilavson. Five dozen hymn books, which were in uso for tho first time at the dedication service, were presented by tho missionary. Mi'. Melville N cwton. After congratulating tho congregation upon tho splendid effort tho moderator spoke on (ho ideals of tho early Christian Church, fho real strength of tho Church to-day lay in the whole-hearted obedience to (ho great head of tho Church. After tho servico the Ladies' Guild, recently formed, served a dainty afternoon tea. Mr. Norman Finlayson, presbytery cider, and Mrs. Finlayson, acted as host and hostess on behalf of Mr. Melville Newton.
