YOUNG WOMAN'S THEFT.
MONEY FOR TROUSSEAU. HANDBAG TAKEN FROM SHOP. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Thursday. Tho story of a young woman's failure to resist temptation to steal was told in tho -Police Court to-day beforo Mr. PL Pago, S.M., who agreed to tho suppression of accused's nanio.
It was stated that the girl, who was 21 years of age, lost her father a month ago and becamo the support of her mother and brother. She was engaged to lie married and on going into a secondhand shop with tho intention of buying a pair of shoes, sbo succumbed to temptation, taking away a handbag which sho thought might contain tho money which would help to buy her trousseau However, it contained a number of rings, a gold medal and a £5 note. Sho pawned the jewellery, which subsequently sho helped tho polico to recover. Tho magistrates committed accused for sentence.
