Numerous new devices at the annual Inventions Exhibition appear to bo making tho lot of housewives much more oasy Sn Herbert Morgan, at tho opening of tho exhibition, said ho feared women would eventually lose their natural skill and become mero automatons. l'ho novelties shown include a wire at tachment on a kettle lid which turns of! the gas when tho water in the kettle boils; a device which seals pie crust and prevents mice from escaping, an ever sharp bread knife, which makes no crumbs; a teapot on the thermos-flask principle, a folding telescopic umbrella, which can bo accommodated in a womun'a handbag; and a telephone attachment for which it is claimed that in tho event of a subsci ibc's absence it records the calling number and the messago.
