GARGOYLE SOCIAL CLUB.

SUCCESSFUL EVENING

Thfe Amateur Operatic Society hall was tastefully decorated last evening when the Gargoyle Social Club—members of the staff of the Vacuum Oil Company—held the third of a series of socials. Multicoloured streamers surrounded the chandeliers, and large clusters of balloons, which were suspended overhead, were later released during one of tho dances Items and dancing helped to pass a very pleasant evening. Among those who were present wero:—Mrs. Sevier, who worn a frock of cyclamen lame with a fringed skirt; Miss Connie Ashwin, leaf preen taffeta frock appliqued with flowers; Miss Hunt, Naples blue taffeta with deep hum of cream 1.-.ce; Miss Jean' Gordon, black georgette beaded in silver; Mrs. Bowman shell pink eeorcetto with scalloped hem. edged with crystal fringe; Miss Distin Strange, silver" floral lame and Spanish shawl; Miss Tate, apricot crepe de chinf with fringed skirt; Miss Vail, ciel blue chiffon with scalloped hem of silver lace; Mrs. Sadgrove, midnight blue crepe de chine with ovcrskirt of silver lace: Miss Clench, geranium red georgette over silver tissue; Miss Morley, peach georgette: Miss Athertc.n, sage green georgette; Miss Vail, lemon taffeta; Miss Roberton, Oriental lame corsage and red taffeta skirt ; Miss Chubb, lettuce green georgette; Miss Watt, moonlight blue georgette over sil ver tissue; Miss Lock, cream lace over apricot goorgette; Mrs. McGregor, scarab blue georgette inset witji silver lace; Miss Gordon, black crepe de chine; Miss Holloway, cream lace over flame satin; Miss Betty liemus, plum coloured taffeta; Mrs Clench, black georgette embroidered with jet beads; Mrs. J.' Kay, peach embossed velvet and georgette; Mrs. Roycroft, tangerine chiffon beaded in silver; Mrs Neil Ballantyne, black panne velvet embroidered with diamante; Miss Sedgwick, lacquer red chiffon velvet. In between the dances songs were given by Mrs. Bowman, Miss Strange, Miss E. Vail and Mr. and Mrs. Asquith, and Mr. A. Manson gave a humorous selection.
