WAITERIMU BALL.

On Tuesday tho single ladies of Waiterimu district, with Miss Ansley (chairwoman) and Miss Watt (secretary), held a very successful ball in the Waiterimu Matahuru ITall, there being about 100 guests present. The hall was decorated with Japaneso lanterns interspersed with festoons of cherry blossom and lycopodium. Bright music was supplied by Allen's Huntly Orchestra, and extras were played by Mrs. Wotherspoon, Miss Carley, and Mr. Smith. During the evening several novelty dances were put on and prizes given for them. They included a spot wait?, won by Mr. and Mrs. Grant; a Mikado won by Miss Fitness; a bottlo competition, won by Mr. and Mrs. McGovern; and a medley gem, won by Mr. C. Thompson. About half-past eleven supper was served. Tho following ladies wero present• Mrs. Harrison, who wore pink crepe do chine and sequin trimming; Miss Wilkins, green crepe do chine; Mrs. East, boige frock; Miss Ansley, black taffeta with frills; Miss Cheyno. pink crepe de chine; Miss Bcgbie, shell crepe do chine; Miss Wallis, cyclamen georgette with motifs and shawl; Miss Walker, mauve crepe do chino: Mrs. Walker, grey crepe do chine; Miss Heather Storey, helio crepe de chino; Miss l'nton, black georgette and lace; Miss M. Wallace, apricot brocaded silk; Miss Sharlz, pink silk; Mrs. Grant, periwinkle georgette; Mrs. Zank, black and green satin; Miss Fitness, bluo satin; Miss Wotherspoon, pink satin . Mrs. Kerr, salmon taffeta with shawl; Miss M. Hill, white Silk ; Mrs. Wallnco, navy crepe do chine; Miss Reid, apricot crepe de chine; Miss Fulton, pink crepe do chine and lacc; Miss M.
