Miss B. Harris, of Christchurch, is staying at tho Grand Hotel. Mrs. G. Poarce has returned to Wanganui from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. H. 0. M. Breo has returned to Wanganui after a month's visit to Auckland Miss H. Otley is a visitor from Christehurch, and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Miss B. Hilliard. of Cremorne, Sydney, is the guest of Mrs. F. A. Claude, Mays Road, Onehunga. Miss Chilton-But ton returned to Auckland yesterday by express after a five months' visit to Australia. Mrs, Farqubar, of Hamilton, who came to Auckland to hear the Grand Opera Company, has been spending a few clays in the city. A meeting 01 Ihe Mothers' League was held in the Myers Kindergarten on Wednesday afternoon, when an interesting address on hygiene was given by Miss Saiyiders Jo.ies, of the St. John Ambu lance Association. Recitations by Miss Ella Matthews were also enjoyed, and afternoon tea was dispensed by Mrs. John Reid, Mrs. Webster, Mrs. Horace Elliott, Mrs. C. A. West, Mrs. F. W. Matthews, Mrs. W. M. Passmore, Mrs. Wainwright, Miss Gerrie, Mrs. P. A. Lindsay, Mrs. Tewsley, Mrs. Brinsden, Mrs. Shackelford and Miss E. Matthews Miss Marjoric Stewart was hostess at a morning tea given for Miss Sybil Martin at the Tudor tearooms yesterday Spring flowers were artistically arranged upon tho tables and the bride-to-be received mary good wishes for her future happiness. Among those who were piesent were Mrs. H. W. Wilson, Mrs Mervyn Reed, Miss C. Russell, Miss Ferguson, Miss V. Jackson, Miss A. Rus Bell, ° Miss Jean Lawford, Miss M. Jackson, Miss Colbeck, Miss M. Vaile, Miss M. Graham, Miss N. Manna, Miss L. Walker, Miss M. Kissling, Miss M. Rus v sell. • A twenty-first birthday party was given to Miss Peggy Blythe by her friends, at the residence of Air. and Mrs. Blythe, of Herno Bay. The evening proved most enjoyable, and took the form of a bridge tournament, followed by dancing. The toast of Miss Peggy Blythe was proposed by Mr. Keenan and Mr. Blythe suitably replied. Tho health of Mr. and Mrs. Blythe was also honoured. Prizes were won by Mr. Keenan, Mr. Blythe, Mrs. Urquhart and Miss Grace. Mrs. Blythe received the guests in a black sequinned frock with cherry-coloured posy; Miss Peggy Blythe wore a French lace frock with turquoise blue sash; Miss Moyra Blythe's frock was of blue and gold taffeta and gold lace. Among the guests present were Mesdames Urquhart. Wright, Pel ham, Thomson, Jones, Jackson, Hughes. Keenan, and Misses Grace, Wells, Keenan and Galbraith; Messrs. Jones, Keenan, Urquhart, McWilliam, Hughes and Blythe.
