MANY ACCIDENTS.

FOUR MEN BADLY HURT. COLLISIONS V/ITH MOTORS CYCLISTS' SEVERE INJURIES. CASE FALLS IN GARAGE. A collision betwen a, cart and a motorcar occurred at the corner of Balmoral Road and Dominion Road yesterday afternoon, the two occupants of the cart being thrown on to tho concrete road. Mr. Maurice Lynch, of Ridge Road, Mount Roskill, sustained concussion of the brain and injuries to the head, necessitating his removal to tho Auckland Hospital. Late last evening his condition was considered to bo fairly serious. The other occupant, Mr. Lynch's brother, received slight cuts on the head. Turning out of Ladies' Mile, Rernuera, into Rernuera Road yesterday morning, a motor-cyclist, Mr. Alfred Carter, collided with a motor-lorry, owned by Mr. W. Lovctt, of l'onsonby. Mr. Carter was thrown heavily from his machine and received a fracture of tho shoulder-blade and injuries to the head. He was taken to tho hospital by the St. John Ambulance. His home is at 134, Victoria Road, Devonport. Last evening Mr. Carter's condition was stated to be serious. Severe injuries to the head and a fracture of the thigh were received by Hubert Thomas, aged 18 years, as the result of being knocked off his bicycle by a motor-car in Rosebank Road, Avondale, last evening. The youth, who lives at 7, Blake Street, Avondale, was conveyed to the Auckland Hospital bv the St. John Ambulance. His condition was considered last evening to be fairly serious.

When helping (o unload a molor-car case at the .Albert Street garage of Dominion Motors, Ltd., yesterday morning Mr. E. Farmer, of 10, Tohunga Street, Parnell, had his log severely crushed. The case, which was being unloaded from a lorry by a crane, fell from the sling and crashed down, falling partly on Mr. Farmer. His le'g was fractured and crushed, necessitating his removal to the hospital, where an operation was performed. His condition was later reported to be very serious. A Chinese, Willie Tong, aged 26, of 181, Manukau Road, Parnell, sustained a fracture of the leg afc the picnic held at Ferndale yesterday to mark the anniversary of the Chinese Republic.

As the result of a fall from a building on which he was working at Pukekohe, Mr. William Vant, aged 58, a carpenter, of Pukekohe, sustained a fracture of the jaw. He was brought to Auckland by his son in a motor-car and was admitted to the hospital last evening.

LORRY GOES OVER BANK. VEHICLE AND LOAD BURNED. As the result of the lights failing as the vehicle was ascending the steep hill at the Razorback, near Bombay, on Tuesday evening, a motor-lorry, owned and driven by Mr. L. AJjel, of Cambridge, plunged over a bank at the side of the road and caught fire. The driver escaped unhurt except for bruises, cuts, and a severe shaking. The lorry, which was loaded with hams and bacon and pipes and earthenware, was completely destroyed, .the fire burning fiercely until late at night. The goods on the lorry wore insured. CAPSIZE OF VEHICLE. DRIVER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. 3 "WAIUKU, Wednesday. A telegraph linesman, Mr. S. Cumming, was injured to-day at Te Toro through a half-ton lorry lie was driving capsizing over the edge of a road. Mr. Cumming sustained a cut on the head and was admitted to the Franklin Hospital, Waiukti, where several stitches, were inserted. His condition is not regarded as serious..- The truck was considerably damaged. HEAD-ON COLLISION.

CARS EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED. [BY U.ELEGIUPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. fl[ TUKEKOHE, Wednesday. A hcad-oj collision between a service car and a largo private car occurred on the Great South Road, between Mercer and Kangiriri yesterday. The accident happened where the new road is beint; widened. Both cars were extensively damaged, the chassis of each being bent. The private car was thrown over tho edga of the road, one wheel was torn off and tho bodywork damaged. The service car was taken to Auckland to-day for repairs. but tho private car remains a wreck on tho roadside.
