UNLICENSED HOARDINGS. Tim 'J'nknpuna Borough Council met, Inst, evening, (lie Mayor, Mr. J. W. Williamson, presiding. ■ The sub-committee which hold a conference with the directors of the North Shore Transport Company, Ltd., with regard to bus fares, reported that no increase in fares had been decided npon. It was reported that tho District Highways Council had decided to expend £3OO on (ho footpaths in tho borough. The engineer is to discuss the council's proposals with its chairman when ho visits Takapuna. Tho Waitemata County Council asked to be advised of a definite date on which tho final concreting and stone-pitching operations on tho road approach to tho Wairau Creek Bridge would bo commenced and when tho agreement as to tho concreting of Sheriff's Hill would ho carried out. Tho matter was deferred until the noxt meeting. On the recommendation of tho Works Committee tho ongineor is to prepare a report on the estimated cost of laying an asphalt carpet in Hurstmcre Road from tho Strand to (ho post offico arid an estimate of tho cost of dressing Milford Koad. Persons displaying unlicensed hoardings are to ho called upon fo show cause at the next meeting of (lie Works Committee why (hey should not bo prosecuted. The district engineer of tho Public Works Department, who wroto with reference to the removal of the tramway track and advised that as a first move the council should have applied for an Order-in-Council revoking the existing Order-in-Council, is to bo informed in detail of the circumstances leading to the removal of tho track.
