FANCY-DRESS DANCE.
A most enjoyable and largely attended fancy-dress dance was held by the Guides of the St. John's Royal Oak Company in the Royal Oak Hall on Friday evening. The district commissioner, Mrs. McNair, welcomed the guests and gave a brief account of the aims of the Guide movement. During the evening varied items were given by the Guides under the direction of Miss Freda Knight, captain, and Miss J. Kirkwood, lieutenant, including country dancing, a nursery rhyme m mime,""The House That Jack Built, and songs round the camp fire. ss Violet Harrison sang and Miss J. lvirnwood danced. Mr Broad foot acted as master of ceromony, and an excellent supper was provided by the committee. Ine guiders and Guides wish to thank all thoso who helped to make the evening a success.
