POLICE COMPETITION.
OPEN TO EMPIRE FORCES. KING GIVES ANNUAL MEDAL. (Received October 8. 7.25 p.m.) British Wireless. RUGBY, Oct. 7. King George has honoured the policemen of the Empire with a new mark of his interest and appreciation of their services. It takes the form of a gold medal to be presented annually by His Majesty for competition among the men of all the regular police forces. Tho medal, and a substantial money prize, will be awarded for the best essay on a set subject connected with tho duties of the police. The subject chosen for the first year's competition is: " Co-operation between, the police and the public in the detection and the prosecution of crime." The institution of this competition was announced in a recent metropolitan police order. It will be open to serving members of the regular police forces within the Emphrf or in the mandated territories.
