MAUKU CLUB'S OPENING. [nX TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PUKEKOHE, Saturday. Tn splendid weather, the tennis season was officially opened at Mauku this nfternoon. The Mauku Club's courts were attended by players from near and far for tho occasion. Tho visitors included members of tho Mangcre, Puni, Buckland, Waiuku, West End and Pukekoho Clubs. Mr. J. S. Davies, president of the Mauku Club, declared tho courts open for play, and Mrs. Davies drove tho first ball. A progressive tennis tournament was then held. Tho occasion was marked by tho presentation to Mr. Davies of a fountain pen, as a token of appreciation by tho members of his services to tho club during tho many years ho has been president. Tho Buckland Tennis Club's courts were declared open for tho season this afternoon by Mr. S. C. Schoficld, president, in tho presene of a good attendance, which included representatives of tho Mauku, Pukekoho Hill, Pukekoho, Pukekoho East and Tuakau Cluhs.
