QUEEN STREET SAFETY ZONE.
Sir, —I note that our city fathers have once again thrust an inconvenience on the supporters of their tramway transport, by removing the safety zone from the heart of Queen Street. This particular tramway stop was most convenient for persons desiring to join outward-bound cars, and when one views the distance between the Victoria Street stop and the stop at Shortland Street, it appears out of all proportion compared with the number of stops for inward-bound cars in Queen Street. I realise that a safety zone overlapping a street, would likely bf> dangerous; but surely the City Council could have compromised and if necessary shortened the zone. I am not interested in any one of the businesses adjacent to the removed safety zone, but as one of the public, I think the City Council might have been a little more considerate to those who support the only means of city transport. Tramp.
