FARMER'S SENTENCE.
DEATH OF HIS WIFE. IMPRISONMENT FOR LIFE. (Received August 14, 12.35 a.m.) ADELAIDE, Aug. 13. The Court of Criminal Appeal to-day quashed the conviction of -Tohann Thiele for the murder of his wife at Collington, 56 miles south-cast of Adelaide, on May 16. It substituted a conviction for manslaughter and Thiele was sentenced to imprisonment for life with hard labour.
The body of Mrs. Fred erica Thiele was found by a labourer employed on her husband's farm. She had been shot in the head. Her husband was absent when the discovery was made. When the police visited the house thev found evidence of a terrific struggle. The furniture was smashed and the walls were stained with blood in several of the rooms, showing how desperately the woman had fought for her life.
