Acting under the orders of (he Governor of Louisiana. Mr. 0. H. Simpson, a party of heavily-armed members of the National Guard raided two fashionable clubs on the outskirts of New Orleans and seized an elaborate gambling equipment The raids caused a panic among-the 225 patrons of the clubs, many of the women among whom fainted and generally added to the excitement. Fifty men attacked a newspaper photographer, whom the guardsmen rescued in an unconscious condition. The gambling equipment was destroyed and burned in a bonfire.

A considerable amount of money left on the tables was seized, and will probably revert to the State.
