DESTRUCTION BY FIRE.
HOUSE AT TE AROHA. MOTHER SAVES CHILDREN. [nx TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AROHA, Monday. A narrow escape from being- burned to death was experienced by Mrs. Dodds, of Te Aroha, and her three young children, when tbeir home was destroyed by fire at the week-end. Mrs. Dodds awoke to find the house in flames, which were fanned by a fierce gale. She placed the youngest child in its perambulator and rushed with it from the house, then re-entered the burning building and saved the other two children. The contents of the house were destroyed. DWELLING AT FEILDING. FAMILY'S NARROW ESCAPE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] FEILDING, Monday. A nine-roomed house in North Street, Feilding, owned and occupied by Mr. Frank Elliott, was gutted by fire early this morning. The family had a narrow escape from the llames. The house was insured for £I4OO and the furniture for £SO. DWELLING AT HAMILTON. GOOD WORK BY BRIGADE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Monday. The Hamilton Fire Brigade received a call at 5.20 a.m. yesterday to an outbreak of fire in a house in Massey Street, owned by Mr. B. Smythe and occupied by Mr. C. Newbury. The fire was caused by a spark from the open fireplace. The outbreak was quickly controlled. Damage to the extent of £4O was caused. The building was insured for £7OO in the State Fire Office.
