HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.
THE WAIKAREMOANA SCHEME SATISFACTORY PROGRESS MADE. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. Work is proceeding satisfactorily on the Waikaremoana hydro-electric scheme and it is hoped to adhero to the contract date, June 30 of next year. The first of the generators for the plant is now on the Wellington wharf, awaiting transhipment to Waikokopu. There are still 26 towers to erect for the transmission line and more than half the cable to run. The main pipeline is expected to be finished at the end of July. There has been some delay in the shipment of the main plant from England, but this lias not seriously affected the position.
