WEATHER IN MAY.
THE OFFICIAL REPORT. The average reading of the barometer in Auckland in May was 29.95 in., according to the monthly report supplied by the Government observer. The maximum reading was 30.333 in.-, on May 11, and the minimum 29.469 in., on May 29. The mean of the month's maximum shade temperatures was 64deg., the maximum reading of 71deg. being recorded on May 14 and the minimum, 50deg., on 'May 31. The moan of tho minimum readings was 53d eg. Periods of bright sunshine totalled 141 hours 25 minutes, the longest period of sunshine in any one day being 8 hours 15 minutes on May 7. There were three days on which no sunshine was recorded. The total rainfall for the month, according to observations taken in Albert Park, was 10.42 in., being 5.87 in. in excess of the average.
