" I was not married to him fwo months before he cut. my head right open with a piece of glass," said Emily Carbines (Mr. Simpson) in the Supreme Court yesterday, in support of her petition for divorce against Richard James Carbines. " He married me for my little home," petitioner continued. " When I did not give it to him he chopped the door down and he cut my head open, and then he went away and stayed with another woman." The parties were married by the registrar in December, 1920. In November, 1923, petitioner obtained a separation order on the grounds of failure to maintain and persistent cruelty, and the order was still in effect.
