FARM HORSES.

Si fj In my journeys about the country 1 am shocked to see the emaciated condition ol some ol the poor horses that are worked on the farms and other olaces. When visiting the city it is most pleasing to see the well-groomed and cared for horses, but in the country it is most distressing to see poor, sunken-eyed horses, ill-groomed, or, I should say, not groomed at all, just a mass of bones, patiently but listlessly working under their loads. Can nothing bo done to improve their deplorable conditoin? I would suggest that the society's inspector of cruelty to animals should make a tour and see if some of the worst cases cannot be brought to Court as a warning to others to give better attention to their horses. Karaka, Papakura. J- Batty.
