TOUR OF PROVINCE.
PLAN FOR BUSINESS MEN. USE OF SPECIAL TRAIN. A special business men's train, comprising four sleeping cars and conveying 60 persons, will run through the Auckland Province on a nine days' itinerary late in October. The arrangements being made between the Auckland Chamber of Commerce and the Railway Department provide for the commencement of the tour on October 26, when the train will leave Auckland for Hamilton. Next day the party will inspect the railway house factory at Frankton Junction and the Ruakura State Farm, Rotorua being reached in the evening. Arapuni, Putaruru, Taneatua, Whakatane, Tauranga, Waihi, Thames, Morrinsville, National Park and Taumahinui will be visited next in order, and on the sixth day of the tour the train will go north to Kirikopuni, Dargaville and the Watpoua Forest. Russell will be visited and the retdrn journey will be made via Whangarei, where the Purewa State experimental farm will be inspected. Government officers will travel with the party to give information. It is suggested stenographers should be provided to enable the business men to deal with urgent correspondence, while arrangements will be made for the prompt forwarding and despatch of telegrams and letters en route. For the entertainment of those making the trip it is proposed to instal a wireless set and gramophones on the train. The nights will be spent on the train. The cost will approximate £lO a head.
