FISHING ARAPUNI LAKE.

Sir, —There appears to be some misapprehension re the fishing in this lake. Recently an amendment of the boundary between the Auckland and Rotorua Acclimatisation districts was made, under which control of the whole lake is vested in the Auckland Acclimatisation Society after August 1, 1923. The council of the Auckland Society have made an arrangement with the Department of Tourist and Health Resorts, under which either Auckland or Rotorua licences would be equally available for fishing the whole lake. The Auckland fishing season closed on April 30, and holders of an Auckland licence cannot fish any portion of the lake after that date. Holders of a Rotorua licence may fish any portion of the lake until May 31, on which date fishing in the Rotorua acclimatisation district closes. This concession to a purchaser of a Rotorua licence was made by the council of the Auckland Society as a sltght recompense for the amendment of the boundary and the less of a considerable stretch of fishing water in the Waikato River. For the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, Cot.in M. Gordon, Secretary.
