NAVY LEAGUE EVENING.

The Devonport sub-branch of the Navy League opened its season last evening with a social gathering held in the Devonport Hall, at which members of the league, the officers of the Philomel, and other visitors were entertained. The hall was artistically decorated with pale pink chrysanthemums, and rows of streamers were strung from the walls, falling in graceful loops from .the large paper bell suspended from the ceiling. Supper was served by the ladies of the committee, who were as follows:—Mrs. Farquhurson, who wore a frock of peacock satin and gold lace inset; Mrs. R. L. Cleveland, frock of'salmon pink georgette heavily beaded in crystal and silver'; Mrs. Bullimore, cyclamen georgette with silver lace overdress; Mrs. R. Aldridgo, turquoise geprgette and taffeta; Miss A. Johnston, salmon taffeta; Miss P. Redmond, pink taffeta; Miss L. Casbilt. duchess blue taffeta; Miss Purcei, black chenille; Miss Melville, old gold salin; Miss J. Lunn, mauve crepe do chine; Miss Stratton', sage green georgette. br - other visitors present were: —Mrs. E. Aldridge, black embroidered georgette; Mrs. A. Lang, peacock blue satin and silver lace; Mrs. R.
