EASTERN OUTLET.

CHURCHILL STREET WORK.

Construction of Churchill Street, which will provide practically a straight run from Beach Road into Stanley Street, is now assuming definite shape, arid it is expected that the work will be completed in about a month. The opening of the street will remove the necessity of traffic making use of Gittos Street, and in addition to tending; to eliminate the waste of time caused by the sharp turns from Gittos Street into Stanley Street or Beach Road, should make more popular the low road exit from th<* city to the eastern suburbs. Churchill Street runs along the bottom of Constitution Hill beside the Maori hostel, and hitherto has existed as a street in name only.
