PENALTY FOR SOLICITOR.
TRUST ACCOUNT TROUBLE. NO AUDIT FOR LAST YEAR. There was no appearance of accused in the Police Court yesterday when J. S. K. Maclennan, formerly a solicitor at Kaitaia, was charged with failing to have his trust account audited for the year ended March 31, 1927. Mr. Hubble, for the Crown, said accused had been written to several times and requested to forward a certificate by an auditor, but had not availed himself of the opportunities afforded him. Maclennan was fined £SO, the minimum penalty, and was ordered to pay £6 Bs, train fare of a witness from the office of the Solicitor-General, Wellington, as well as £2 2s, fee to prosecuting counsel.
