NOTES ON THE RACING.

\ SOME KEEN CONTESTS. BY PICADOR. Raima was a £3OO better favourite than Nelson Bay for the Introductory Trot Handicap, with good support also for Gold Sovereign. Bingen Boy and Bingen Starr failed to begin correctly, while Rorna Bingen broke up early. Dolores hit the front quickly from Gold Star and Raima, With half a milo covered Raima took charge and drew out several lengths front Gold Stivr. who was followed by Dolores. {Juickfire and Spirit Bell, with Nelson Boy. who made a bad break early, closing up. Three furlongs from home Dolores and Quiekfire broko and Nelson Boy ran up fast to third position behind Raima and Gold Star. At the distance Raima looked like winning easily, but Gold Star, who broke on the post, made a determined effort and ran him to a head. Nelson Boy was four lengths away third, with Dolores fourth. Then came Quiekfire, Gold Sovereign. Spirit Bell and Bright Light. Raima was very confidently driven and his winning margin could have been bigger.

Taip/ire Wins Easily. In a big field for the Tramway Handicap Taipare, Padlock and Audilress were the best supported. D'Artagnan and Auditress failed to begin correctly and Red Star tangled emly after, going away smartly. Logan Rothschild was quickly in front from Taipare and Kingsclere. Passing the stand Tiiipare and Kingsclere went to the front, closely followed I y Logan Rothschild, Van Rich, Bingen King. Lord Minto and Dillon Huon. Taipare drew out along the back and led into the straight, several lengths clear of Kingsclere, Bingen King and Dillon Huon. Nothing had a chance with Taipare in the straight and ho scored comfortably by a length and a half from Bingen King, who beat Kingsclere by a similar margin. Padlock was fourth, followed by Dillon Huon, Bob Logan. Audilress and Dalmeny The Champion Handicap was a good betting race, with Great Bingen slightly better fancied than Tom Thumb and the eventual winner. Jewel Pointer, at a good price Sea Pearl turned right round at the start, losing all her handicap, and Tom Thumb also lost- some ground. Cardinal Logan led out from Bell Harold and Nelson Fame. With little more than two furlongs covered Nelson Fame ran to the front from Cardinal Logan, Bell Harold. Tom Thumb and Jewel Pointer, Jack Potts and Great Bingen being next. The positions were much the same along the back, but Jewel Pointer moved up crossing the top to lead into tho straight from Nelson Fame, Cardinal Logan and Tom Thumb. Jewel Pointer went on at tho finish to score comfortably by a length and a-half from tho fast-finishing Jack Potts. Tom Thumb and Great Bingen (who also finished well), were two lengths away a dead heat for third. Cardinal Logan fifth and Bell Harold sixth. Jewel Pointer won in brilliant fashion. Victory for Ngatira. For the Christmas Handicap Great Change was a good favourite, being about £6OO better backed than the Ngatira-Gold Dial bracket. Roi Alto, Anseline, Gold Dial. The Tartar and Peter McKinney began badly, while Appeal. Sebisca and Golden Grattan made mistakes early. A 1 Mack and Great Change ran to .the front in a few furlongs from Appeal, Sebisca, Nourmahal and Ngatira. .Passing the stand tho second time Al Mack and Great Change were still the leaders, Nourmahal. Ngatira (breaking). Appeal, Petroleuso and Ricardo being their closest attendants. Running along the back Ngatira made a forward move to take charge across the top and lead into the st-aight from Great Change. Nourmahal, Appeal and Al Mack, with Petroleuse coming fast. Ngatira was not seriously troubled at the finish to win by a length and a-half from Appeal, who defeated Petroleuse by two lengths. Great Change was fourth, followed by Gold Dial, Tradesman. Tiger Salve and Nourmahal. The Dominion Handicap waa a good betting race. Native Prince being a slightly better favourite than King Pointer, who was £2OO bstter supported than Rockburn. Uncle Bert broke lip at the start and King Pointer also dwelt a little. Great Actress and Orphan took up the running from the start and led past the stand, closely attended by Rockburn and Native Princo (who bad run through the field quickly, King Pointer and Dick Dillon. The order was practically the same as they came past the stands the second time, when\ Young Blake put m a bad break as he was moving up fast. Orphan ran to the front crossing the top and. showed the way into the straight closely followed by King Pointer and Native Prince, with Young Blake closing up. In a good finish King Pointer won by a length from Native Prince, Young Blake being a length and a-half away third. Dick Dillon was fourth and Orphan fifth, with the others pulling up. Only for the bad break he made in front of the stands Young Blako would have seriously troubled the winner.

Peterwah's Fine Effort. Machine Gun was a strong cider for the Summer Cup, being £6OO better backed than the second choice, Peterwah, who had a slight call over Kohara. First Carbine went away in front, leading past the stand from Peterwah, Concliff and Machine Gun. Peterwah took charge along the back, where First Carbine broke up oadly and dropped right back. Entering on the last lap Peterwah was still the leader, closely foilowed by Concliff'and Machine Gun, wita Jewel Pointer and Kohara closm.j up. Urte furlongs from home Concliff ran up to i ete J~ wah and the pair turned into Uie b-rau;ht just clear of Machine Gun and Jewel 1 ointer. Peterwah outstayed tho <thei3 at tne finish, scoring by a length and a-half Imn Concliff. who defeated Machine Gun r.y three-parts of a length, tvoh'ira vvas 'ourln and Jewel Pointer fifth. Peter.vah was tho only trotter in the field and his victoiy ov-er the pacera was popularly received. There was good wagering c n the .hpsom Trot Handicap. Betty Moko. Money Spider and Elzear being the popular picks. Elf.ear and Napland faulted badly in the fcrst couple of furlongs. Tradesman began well pnu showed the way past the stand to Ivj3Q Bingen. Sister Beatrice and Betty Moko. Coming past the stands tne p.econd time Hose Bingen took charge from Betty -vUko. Tradesman. Sister Beatrice and John -Mauritius with Money Spider closing up. Betty Moko assumed command crossing tnt top and led into tho straight closely attended by Rose Bingen. Money Spider (who .Moke) and John Mauritius, with Peter 8 will coning fast. Peter Swift finished in great style and scored by three-parts of a length lrom Betty Moko. Money Spiaer was a lengtn away third and John Mauvitms fourth, ncn coining Elzear arid Roie Bingeij. The winner put in a great run over tho last tour fU ße"f Harold was a good favourite for the Ranfurly Handicap, with Black Lila and Escapade the next in request. Hue Coronado and Escapade broke up at the start and wore pulled up before covering a lap. Direct Morning went out fast and made play from All Bell, Black Lila and Bell Harold. Direct Morning and All Bell led into the straight from Bell Harold. Confidently driven, Bell Harold won with ease by a length and a-half from All Bell, who beat Direct Morning by a nose. Black Lila was fourth.
