ALGERIA'S STRICKEN AREA. ESTIMATED DAMAGE £4,000,000. A. and N.Z.-Sun. ALGIERS, Nov, 29. As a result of the devastating flood in Algeria the damage in, the Oran Depart merit, alone is estimated at £4,000,(300. Many villages were swept and have left almost no trace of their existence. A vast tract has been converted into a silt-covered plain. The number of dead is certain to total several hundreds. Rain continues to fall and is hampering the work of relief. The task of conveying provisions to the stricken areas has commenced, and in the meantime aeroplanes aro dropping food to survivors in the isolated districts.
