ANNIVERSARY REGATTA.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS, The annual meeting of the Auckland Anniversary Regatta Committee was held last evening, Mr. W. P. Endean presiding. The chairman said the regatta last January was successful. The thanks of the committee were duo to the Harbour Board and to the subscribers, without the support of whom the regatta could not be held. He also referred to the deaths of Sir Henry Brett and Messrs. 11. Frator and D. Goldie, vice-presidents. The balance-sheet showed the financial position of the committee was sound. The receipts for the year amounted to £6BB, and tho expenditure to £SBB. The receipts included £531 from donations, JCHXJ from entrance fees and £53 from pro* gramme rights. The principal item of expenditure was £302 for prune-money, it was decided to hold the annual regatta next January as usual and all present formed themselves into a commute© to carry out the function, The election of officers resulted:— v, Patron, tho Governor-General, Sir Charles I'Vrgusson; vice-patron, the Prime Minister, Mr. Coates, Commodore Swabey, »ml Mr. 11, 11. Mackenzie; president, the Mayor, Mr. O. Baildoni chairman, Mr. W. P. Hndcnti; vice-chairman, Mr. E. B. Webster; secretary, Mr. .!. 0. Hew son; treasurer, Mr. A M. Gilmour; auditor, Mr. W. B. Beaumont; lion, solicitor, Mr, ,F. B. Johnston. It was decided to approach the naval authorities with the idea of securing one of tho warships to act. nn flagship t n to gat ta day, Tho chairman and several members of the committee expressed the hope that interest in the regatta would ho taken by motor-boat owners, ns well as yachts men. Tho racing officials and sub committees will be. appointed at, the next meeting of the general committee on December 12.
