BRITAIN AND EGYPT.

SUGGESTION OF ALLIANCE. QUESTION OF INDEPENDENCE STATEMENT BY KING FUAD. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. A. and N.Z. CAIRO, Nov. 17. In his speech from tho Throne to the Egyptian Parliament King Fuad said the Prime Minister, Sarwat Pasha, on his recent visit to London, had engaged in conversations with the British Government, which had contributed to a good understanding between the two countries. He had also discussed the question of the Sudan. If the two points of view could be reconciled, it might be possible to initiate, negotiations for an Anglo-Egyp-tian alliance, which would permit Egypt to realise complete independence, and would determine her relations with Britain. These delicate conversations had been conducted in a spirit of friendship and with a desire to reconcile the respective standpoints of the two countries.
