PETROL TAX REVENUE.
BASIS OF ALLOCATION. OTAGO MOTORISTS' DEMANDS. [by telegraph.—press association.] DTJNEDIN. Friday. " Failing a satisfactory reply from the Government in regard to our demands that the petrol tax should bo allocated on the same basis as the tyro tax, a public meeting Will be held and a united protest made by the Motor Association, Chamber of Commerce and other interested bodies, including the Otago Expansion League, against the intolerable position," said Mr. Ansellj president of the South Island Motor Union. Mr. Ansell added: "Wo have had many fights on our roading problems and are continually up against a brick wall. This latest Act of the Government is probably the worst over passed by the present Government. We are determined that we will not tolerate it. Counties in tho South Islaqd are entitled to receive from motorists subsidies in accordance with the usage of the roads.".
