MOUNT ALBERT CLUB. The annual meeting of the Mount Albert Lawn Tennis Club was presided over bv Mr. A. T. Garlick. About 30 members were present. As the club is some distance from the city, members have had difficulty in obtaining adequate practice on week days. The Pukekohe Tennis Club officially opened its courts for the season on Saturday afternoon in fine weather. The attendance numbered close on 150 persons and included visitors from other clubs. In declaring the courts open for play, the president of the club, Mr. J. W. Johns, said the prospects were that the coming season would prove a good one, especially as daylight saving would be in vogue. The club was seriously considering the purchase of an acre of ground to provide more courts, in view of the increasing membership. The president of the Franklin Lawn Tennis Association, Mr. A. P. Home, spoke on association matters, advocating that steps should be taken to counter the tendency of good players to leave the weaker clubs in order to join the stronger and that a fund should be smarted to acquire courts for the association. The season's play was opened by Mrs. Johns driving the first ball over the net.
