OFFICIALS MURDERED.

OUTRAGE IN SOLOMONS. TWO BRITISHERS KILLED. NUMEROUS OTHER VICTIMS. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. A. and N.Z. SUVA. Oet. 7. The worst outrage in the history of the Solomon Islands, involving the murder of Government officials and many natives, is reported. The High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, Sir Eyre Hutson* received a wireless message last evening that a trader who had arrived at Tulagi, in the Solomon Islands, in the Government steamer Auki, reported that a district commissioner, Mr. Bell, a cadet, Mr. Lillies, 15 native police, and the crew of their vessel, had been murdered by bush natives at Sinarago, on the northeast coast of Malaita Island. The date of the outrage is not mentioned. Th« boatswain of the Auki and four wounded police are the sole survivors. Mr. Bell and Mr. Lillies were buried at Kwai. The only Europeans in the vicinity are Mr. and Mrs. Andrew, of the Seventh Day Adventist Mission. They have a vessel and can easily go to Kwai, where the South Sea Evangelical Mission station is situated. No anjiety is felt for their safety. This is the first time that Government officials have been murdered.
