IMPROVEMENTS TO BE MADE. EXPENDITURE OF £I2OO, •, , . Improvements to the Parnell swimming baths are to be made in readiness for the new season. Tho City Council has decided to concrete the bottom of the deeper portion of the baths from the north wall, and to bitumenise the remainder of the pool. This should be a distinct improvement on the present papa rock foundation, and should remove cause for,all complaint as to the state of the baths, which have recently been cleaned out in readiness for tho new work. The city engineer, Mr. W. E. Bush, says he hopes to start tho -work next week, and it should be completed before the end of the month. The material will have to be conveyed to the baths by barge, owing to the difficulty of land access. Tho work will involve the expenditure of £I2OO.
