MOTORS OUT OF CONTROL.
LORRY CRASHES INTO FENCE. A motor-lorry belonging to Sutherland and Pearson Limited, carriers, Onehunga, and driven by Mr. E. G. Whitehead, became out of control, in Lome Street yesterday morning and crashed into an iron fonco on a vacant section adjoining the factory of Tonson Garlick, Limited. The gear-box caught on a raised portion of the footpath and the vehicle was brought to a standstill before much damage was done. The lorry was heavily laden with a load of paper, and consequently attained great speed. The chassis waa slightly bent,, otherwise the vehicle was little damaged. A mishap of a similar nature occurred in Willow Street, Freeman's Bay, yesterday morning, when the brakes of a motor delivery van parked at the top of the street, failed to hold the vehicle, which proceeded at a rapid pace down the street toward Victoria Park, eventually coming to a stop against a fence on a residential property. The fence was slightly damaged and the vehicl# escaped unharmed.
