TYPHOON AT MANILA.
LIVES LOST IN HARBOUR. LARGE LAUNCH FOUNDERS. (Received August 20, 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. MANILA, Aug. 19. A large launch foundered in the harbour at Manila. Nearly 40 lives aro reported to have been lost. Owing to the strong typhoon blowing attempts to rescue the drowning men were fruitless. Inter-island shipping is tied up and communications are interrupted on account of the storm.
