FIFTY MILES CHAMPIONSHIP. POSTPONEMENT OF THE RACE. The race for the Fifty Miles Auckland Provincial Amateur Cycling Road Championship and the supporting programme arranged for next Saturday at Alexandra Park. Epsom, will not take place until a later date, probably September 17. This course was deemed advisable after the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association had been advised by the executive of the Auckland Trotting Club that the continued heavy rains had left the trotting track in such condition that it was impossible to put the mower or tractor roller over it. An examination of the track by Centre officials revealed that it was not suitable in its present state for competition, and with no other suitably situated ground available, or in better order, the postponement had to be decided upon. The position was explained to a large number of cyclists on Saturday by Mr. L. Wilson, honorary secretary of the Manukau Cycling Club, and nil favoured the action taken.

On Saturday the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club will decide the usual road races, and the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club will hold its competitions at the Domain.
