RIOTERS IN PARIS.

COMMUNISTS ON STRIKE. SERIOUS CLASH WITH POLICE. A. and N.Z. PARIS. Aug. 18. A serious clash occurred between Communist strikers and police in L'Avenue d'ltalie this afternoon. By way of protest against the dismissal of a comrade the strikers tried to force an entrance to the metropolitan railway yard. When they were expelled thev collected a crowd of 700 persons. The mob seized a policeman and were proceeding to throw him down a well when three passers-by rescued the officer. Additional police then arrived They charged the demonstrators and dispersed them. Ten of the strikers were injured. Three were arrested.
