RACE PERMIT DISPUTE.

EARLY AGREEMENT LIKELY. HUNT TO RETAIN ITS DATE. ARRANGEMENT FOR THIS YEAR. [BY TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL REPORTER. ] WELLINGTON, Friday. The prospects for a satisfactory settlement of the Waikato racing permit dispute aro considered to be very bright as a result of a conference which was held today between prominent officials of the New Zealand Racing Conference and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. R. F. Bollard. Finality was not reached, but as an outcome of the discussion it is expected the Hunt Club will race as usual on Labour Day this year and that the position will be reviewed again by the Racing Conference at its next annual meeting. So far as the Waikato Racing Club is concerned it is understood it will be permitted to hold its meeting on days other than Labour Day, which have yet to be decided.
