\ MAN FOUND IN HOUSE.

MAGISTRATE DISMISSES CHANGE

A charge of being found without, lawful excuse on the premises of Rose Bright, 27, West Street, Newton, was denied by James Xewald, aged 38, in the Police Court, yesterday. Rose McKenn said she called at the home of her mother. Mrs. Bright, at 7.30 p.m. Hearing a noise inside she said, "Who is there ?" and accused, whom she knew by sight, came to the door and shook hands, saying "It is only me." Ho said lie was waiting for witness' brother and that her mother knew he was there. Witness identified accused among a number of others at the police station. Accused in evidence denied any knowledge of the incident and stated he was at home at the time. The magistrate, Mr. Hunt, said he had a doubt about' the matter and dismissed tho charge. A request to be sent to Roto Roa Island was made by Edward Hall, aged 52, who pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness and procuring liquor while prohibited. "Yes, I suppose you would like to spend the summer down there," remarked the magistrate. He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
