' Four justices of the Massachusetts Supreme Court, sitting as a full Bench at Boston, heard arguments on the exceptions taken by counsel for the condemned Italians, Sacco. arid Vanzctti, to the de- " cisions made by Judge Thayer and Judge Sanderson The main object of counsel's pleadings, for the hearing-bf which the Governor, .Mr. Alvan Fuller, granted the doomed ' men a respite, was to obtain a new trial. Counsel based his strongest argument upon the alleged prejudice shown bv Judge Thayer, which he claimed precluded a fair and impartial trial. The Attorney-General, who replied, described the proceedings as merely a device to secure a, further delay of the execution. The Bench reserved its decision until Friday. Sacco has broken his hunger strike owing to threats that he would be forcibly fed.
