BOUND FOR PACIFIC COAST. (Received August 17. 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z.-Sun. SAN FRANCISCO. Aug. 17 A report from Detroit states- that Captain Giles hopped off for the Pacific Coast last night. Captain F. A. Giles, of Adelaide, Australia, who was prevented from competing in the race to Honolulu bv a mishap to his plane at Detroit, has planned a flight from the aerodrome at Wyandotte, 12 miles from Detroit, to Wellington, New Zealand, via San Francisco, Honolulu and Brisbane. The distance, from Honolulu to Brisbane is 4709 miles, which no one lias yet. covered in one flight. Front Brisbane lie will attempt to fly to Sydney, and thence over the Taspian, as yetumcrossed, to Wellington, 1369 miles. His plane is "The, Good-will Messchger," a licaa-Bluebird biplane.
