FIRE IN A HOTEL.
STAFF QUARTERS BURNED. BUILDING AT PAEROA. [BV TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] PAEROA, Wednesday. A semi-detached portion of the Criterion Hotel, Paeroa, was destroyed by fire this morning The' wing, which was used as the staff quarters, contained five rooms and .a bathroom, and was built of wood. Shortly after the fire was discovered the wing was a mass of flames arid tlio whole hotel was in imminent danger. The Paeroa Fire Brigade effected a very good save. Although a fresh wind was fanning the flames toward the main building, the brigade prevented the fire spreading. Members of the staff lost all their belongings, none of which was covered by insurance. , The building is insured in the New Zealand and South British offices.
