GAME NOT RESUMED.

RAIN AT BIRMINGHAM.

CHANCE OF VICTORY REDUCED

(Received July 27, 12.45 a.m.) A. and N.Z. LONDON, July 26

The New Zealand cricketers were unable to- resume their match against Warwickshire this morning owing to rain.

The New Zealand cricketers have victory in sight in their match with Warwickshire unless the rain which prevented play yesterday morning leads to the abandonment of the game. For their strong position. the fine second-wicket partnership between C. S. Dempster and C. F. W. Allcott must be held chiefly responsible. It is an excellent feat for two batsmen to make more than 300 runs against bowling which is far from being second-class. Allcott's success will be particularly pleasing to Auckland cricketers. Evidently he is just beginning. to strike- his true form, and Allcott in form is always likely to make runs. In scoring 29, C. C. Dacre has raised his total number of runs for the tour to over 1000. He is the fourth batsman on the side to have accomplished this. M. L. Page, of Canterbury, has also nbw exceeded 1000 runs, Dacre having just beaten him in the race for fourth place.
