DEEP-SEA FISHING.
CATCHES AT WHANGAROA. [BY TELEOGaPH.—g\VJJ COEaESPOS'DEXT.I WHANGAROA, Monday. A 2571b. thresher shark was landed yesterday bv Mr. C. Bromwich, when fishing off Whangaroa. While the fish was being played it was attacked by a monster make, which mutilated the thresher so badly that the angler was soon able to bring the rod play to its closing stages. Mr. Bromwich then had another cast and was able to hook the rnako. However, he was not able to land the latter, having the misfortune to break the tra( ; e. He later booked a light swordfish, which provided excellent sport.
