3RITISH NATIONAL APPEAL. (Received May 1. 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z.-Sun. LONDON. April SO The Duke of York is sponsoring an appeal for £1,000.000 for a fund on behalf of the National Playing-fields movement which is to be launched on June 1. The aim is to provide a minimum of five acres of public open space for every !<XX> persons. At present 94 towns, with' a population of 7,00Q,G3Q possess one football ground for every 8000 persons aad a cricket, pitch for every 11.OX* and two tennis courts for every 12,000.
