ATHLETICS IN TEXAS.
FOOTRACE OF 82 MILES. INDIAN RUNNER THE WINNER. VANCOUVER, March 26. Austin, Texas, was the scene of a remarkable footrace yesterday. Twelve Tarahumara Indians started from San Antonio to run to Austin, 82 miles away. Only three continued the amazing struggle when 60 miles had been covered. Augustin Solido then collapsed with cramp, but shouted encouragement to his two companions, who doggedly finished, doing the last 20 miles in under three hours. Jose Torres was the victor. ."v ■ . ; . At the same time girls ran a race over the regular Marathon distance (26 miles).
