BLUE AND PAVILION BATHS. new buildings requested. [BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT, j ROTORUA. Friday. The Rotorua Borough Council met on Wednesday evening, the Mayor, Mr. C. H. Clinkard, presiding. A letter was received from the Women's Club asking the council to support it in its application to the Minister of Health for the establishment of a maternity ward m conjunction with King George V. Hospital. At present there was only a private nursing home in Rotorua. The council decided to support the application. An invitation from the High School Board for the Mayor and members of the council to be present at the laying of the foundation stone of the school by the Hon. R. A. Wright, Minister of Education, was accepted. In view of the conference ot the National Dairy Association, to be held in June, the secretary oi the Citizens League Committee wrote asking for the support of the council in helping toward the entertainment of the visitors. It was expected that about 1000 delegates and members of t.hei, families would visit Rotorua.
Attention was drawn to the dilapidated condition of the blue and pavilion baths, and to the urgent need of new buildings for both baths. It was decided that the Government be urged to take immediate action and thus redeem the promises made to replace these out-of-date structures. i
Mr. flili was again appointed to represent the council on the Waikato Hospital Board Mr. T McDowell resigned his seat on the Tauranga Harbour Board, and was thanked for his services. No new appointment was made. The secretary of the Rotorua fire brigade wrote "drawing attention to the fact that the proprietors of some of the halls were not complying with the requirements of the Act. It was decided to notifv the owners.
Mr. F. C. Bunyard was appointed sanitary inspector, and Mr. T. G. Blakeley assistant inspector.
