NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. m THE CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. The council of the New Zealand Golf Association met in Wellington on Monday, Mr. R. C. Kirk presiding. A statement of finance showed balances totalling £5Ol. Tournament dates trere agreed to as follows: —Timaru, June 3; Masterton, June 2, 3, and 4 Easter tournament programmes were received from Manawatu, Wellington, New Plymouth and Nelson Clubs and annual reports and balancesheets from Auckland. Maungakiekie. Mirimar. Avondale, Nelson and Rotorua. The chairman presented a report of the professionals' tournament at Rotorua in which be warmly praised the club officials on the running of the tournnment and stated that he considered the Rotorua Club should be congratulated on having one of the most enjoyable courses in the Dominion. Mr. Kirk also reported his inspection of the Hamilton course with a view to the championships and considered that there was no doubt that, the course will be in good condition by the time the championship i? played. The commencing date of the tournament is to be either Friday, September 2. or Friday, September 9, A definite decision will be made very shortly. A tour was arranged for John Lambie, professional, (who is at present coaching at Waiwetu), embracing Taihape, Mar-ton, Waimarino and Martinborough clubs in that order, employing _ him continuously until June 17, after which a further tour will be arranged. MAUNGAKIEKIE LADIES'. The Maungakiekie Ladies' Golf Club opened the season on the Titirangi links yesterday. There was a large attendance of members to witness the foursomes in the morning and the various competitions in the afternoon Following arp the results:— Foursomes. —Miss S. Maboney and Miss S. Johnston. 115. 29—80: Miss A. Fouhy and Miss G. Cook. 112, 2-1— 88.. Putting competition—Mrs. ITorton. -Driving com<petition—Miss Napier. Approaching and putting competition—Miss Napier. A C grade medal will be played next Tuesday on the Titirangi links, commenc ing at 11 o'clock. Entries close Saturday April 0.
